Advantages of Stationary Armature The field twisting of an alternator is p ut on the rotor and is associated with the DC supply through two slip rings. The 3-phase armature winding is set on the stator. The advantages of Stationary Armature are the Following. 1.     It is easier to insulate stationary winding for high voltages for which the alternators are usually designed. 2.     It is on the grounds that they are not exposed to diffusive powers and furthermore additional room is accessible because of the stationary course of action of the armature. 3.     The stationary 3-phase armature can be directly connected to load without going through large, unreliable slip rings and brushes. 4.     Only two slip rings are required for DC supply to the field winding on the rotor.
